Founded in 1981 on an approximate area of 3200 square meters the market comprises 42 shops plus 18 shops for hens. These shops also sell other birds, including hawks and colored fish. Cattle are sold through 52 outlets in the souq.

Through its veterinary team, the souq offers veterinary services to ensure regular livestock check up, and to issue abattoir licenses.
