Qasba Channel is considered to be one of the important landmarks of Sharjah because its one kilometer stretch links Khalid lagoon and the Al Khan lake. It was inaugurated in November 2000 by H.H. Dr. Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

On the same date, H.H. also inaugurated a number of buildings facing the channel. These buildings are characterized by classical Islamic architecture.

The Qasba Channel is known as ‘Sharjah’s Venice’ and the Islamic designed buildings on the channel banks includes educational and Islamic organizations as well as scientific and cultural institutes, semi governmental institutes, including the social society, and Arabic Language Protection Society.
