Started in 1997, the University City planting project was one of the biggest and most important planting and landscaping projects ever undertaken in Sharjah. The project was completed in record time which is most impressive considering the scale of the project - over 2 million and 140 thousand square meters of landscaped area.
Many fruit and flowers trees have been planted within the landscaping plus some shade trees and a large number of palm trees spread around the grounds.
Vaginatum Paspalum grass was used in landscaping, which is different from the familiar Bermuda grass more commonly used in Sharjah city.
